Before I start the current blog, I left something out of the last one.  A BIG THANK YOU needs to be extended to two of Debi's friends Karin and Sarah.  Both ladies made homemade soup for us.  Absolutely outstanding!!!  This helped tremendously since I had just gotten out of the hospital.

This blog starts Tuesday the 11th.  I set up most of the morning in the wheelchair and worked on the blog.  I have been able to maneuver the rig very well.  In fact better than we thought.  The BEST part of being back at the rig ---- I'm able to get in our shower!!!!!!!  I'm trying to sit up more, but I have to watch the swelling in my foot.  That's the time to lay down and elevate it.  After resting a while I started working on some knitting. So glad I've had this hobby to do with this extended recuperation period.  Lee checked out the blog and added pictures.  One of our neighbor (Diane) came over to visit --- and to let us know that her and her husband (Pat) were fixing us dinner......homemade goulash and a salad.  OH MY GOSH - delicious. MANY THANKS!!

On Thursday the 13th after we had breakfast, Lee headed to the laundry room.  He was very lucky - machines available.  Afterwards he went grocery shopping.  I can't maneuver around enough to help out with these chores yet.  It's a beautiful sunny day -- 64 degrees at 1:30 pm.  I'm hoping to venture outside in the next day or two.  My leg doesn't like the cold weather at all!!!!  In the meantime I'm trying to sit up longer. This episode absolutely zapped my energy.  The pain is easing up quite a bit, but I pray to be pain free for an entire day.  Got to be patient -- I don't think that's going to happen for a long time.

Happy Valentine's Day (14th).  Lee surprised me with some chocolate covered strawberries.  YUM!!!and a beautiful card. Wonderful day - sunny and warm.  Got up to 90!!!!!  This is a get out of the rig day!!!!  Rode over to the island - our favorite.  As we headed to the island 3 dolphins began jumping really close to the side of the ferry.  Absolutely beautiful -- love 'em!!!!!  We stopped by to see some of our Winter Texan friends (John & Carol).  After our visit with them we took a ride down the beach and went to the jetty. I wanted to walk the beach so bad, but that will have to be later.  This is the first time I've been out for an extended amount of time.  What an enjoyable day!!!!  THANKS LEE-- LOVE YA'!!!!

Saturday the 15th was another sunny and warm day in Rockport.  We're HOPING winter is gone!!!  Two of our friends (Dan & Karen) came to visit.  They noticed the problem I'm having with my foot and ankle swelling after I've been up for a while.  (By the way - this is normal - and I could have this problem up to a year.)  They came back later with an Iceman machine.  It circulates cold water through a bandage on the foot.  Can't hurt to give it a try.  Karen had use it on an ankle problem.  Thank you Dan and Karen!!!  My WONDERFUL caregiver did an outstanding job with dinner tonight -- roast an veggies in the crockpot. Watched Sprint Unlimited - interesting - but frustrating because of all the wrecks.  Sunday the 16th was a relaxing day.  Lee got the Iceman set up, which I kept on for an hour.  WOW - it worked even if only temporary.  That is until I sit up for an extended time.  A couple friends from the park (Terry & Sylvia) came by for a visit.  Really enjoyed the company!  Thank you!!  On Tuesday the 18th dinner was furnished again by our neighbors Diane & Pat.  Another wonderful dinner!! Porcupine Balls made with meatballs and rice with a wonderful sauce. Thank ya'll!!!!  This was also a big day for me. OH MY GOSH - I'm able to cross the right leg over the left.  Didn't even realize that I had done it.  I think I scared Lee - because when I noticed what I had done I got VERY excited.  It's been a month today since my accident.  Doesn't seem possible.  Hopefully the next 4 weeks will go by as fast.  That will be 4 additional weeks of healing and hopefully will get the ok to start using that leg again.  It was a great warm evening and I was feeling good, so Lee helped me get outside into the wheelchair and we went across the street to visit the other folks outside for happy hour.  Felt so good being outside.

Sunday the 23rd -- it been a very quiet week. Lee washed the rig and also the truck since both were dirty and he like them to be clean when traveling.  I continue to heal and Lee continues to be one heck of a caregiver.  We will be heading north next Saturday to our summer base.  We've got a lot to do this coming week.  Lee started by defrosting and disconnecting the freezer.  I have been working on a "to do" list since I'm so restricted as to what I can do to help.  Spent the afternoon watching the Daytona 500.  LOVE IT!!! On Monday the 24th we got out and met some Winter Texans for breakfast.  Once we got back to the rig we started getting more items secured and arranged for our departure on Saturday.  On the 26th Lee headed out early to have coffee with the guys at the clubhouse then he went to get a haircut from Doobie.  I got settled in on the couch with my coffee and newspaper.  Real ugly day --- COLD and rain with wind gust at 44.  So - no - winter's not done with us.

Since I've been laid up I've watch a lot of t.v. and knit.  Because of the t.v. I have a question - do you folks punch the mute button on the remote control when a commercial comes on?  Is it because we're getting older or are they as bad as they appear?   And - how much of a program are we really getting?  Maybe half??? Other than the nasty weather - that's my rant for the day.  Lee did a WalMart run for us between rain showers and got the truck gassed up for our trip Saturday.  Friday the 28th  - beautiful sunny warm day.  Busy one also.  Lee worked getting the outside ready for tomorrow.  I got in my wheelchair to take care of low items inside.  Looks like we're about done until hookup in the morning.  Got a surprised visitor late afternoon.  Chad (nephew) showed up.  He came down for the weekend to fish.

We left Drifters at 10:23 am on March 1st heading north.  It's been a good winter except for too many cold spells.  Arrived at the RV park in Bulverde at 2:44 pm.  So let the drama begin.  Triple check your reservations regardless of where you're going in your travels.  Long story short - after making a trip to this RV park (personally) back in December - we were assured one of several spots that would be available on the 1st.  But only 2 spots were available and they were not on our "approved" list.  The first spot they offered -- what a joke -- part of the RV would be in the road and no place to park the truck.   The other spot -- too short of an angle to back in.  To say we were upset puts it mildly.  As we were leaving the park a tree broke the cable on our satellite dish and also tore a couple of holes in the roof..  An employee of the park is standing there watching us at this turn around and made NO effort to stop us from going out that way.  There was a tree over the road.  The tree did not look that low - but guess what...low enough. As we drove through we took some limbs with us.  So - that would tell you a sign needs to go up stating the height.  Lee had explained to them how we made the reservations (still have the map their employee highlighted when we personally met with them in December). Guess what - he was told those folks couldn't do that.  That tells us the office staff is NOT trained properly!!!!  Found a place to pull over to cool off and make some phone calls to some RV parks.  The first call was to a real nice place.  We've even stayed there before a few years ago.  I'll skipped the ungodly details, but again -- the office staff had NO idea what they were doing!!!  Third call - YYIIPPEE!!! Someone that went out of their way to help us!!!   By then we're so tired from all the drama.  We just want to get the "have to" stuff done and relax.  But -- NO -- let have more drama.  The freezer and refrigerator doors had come open during our trip.  Refrigerator just needed some straightening up but the freezer items had caused a horrible mess.  Everything in the freezer had to be trashed.  But - to add to that excitement it had two pints of ice cream that had overturned and the lids had come off.....melted and was all over the floor in the back.  Lee moved everything forward, helped me retrieve the cleaning supplies and gave me a chair.  I sent him outside to work on setting up.  Every clean a floor from a chair??  Well - it worked!!  So glad we both had something to keep us busy.  It helped to cool our tempers.  What a day!!!  We were both mentally and physically exhausted.  More to do - but tomorrow is another day.  Time to crash after a nice warm shower.

Is there a "funny" to this journey?  Yep!  Lee stopped on the side of the road just to do a walk around to check the rig.  He had parked by a farm that had huge brahma bulls.  Well - obviously we disturbed one of them having lunch and he didn't like it at all!!!  He strolls over to the fence and started yelling at us.  OMG - how funny because we both started mocking him and yelling back.  Hope no one was around the barn to witness that.  But if they did - they'll think we're crazing people from Tennessee -- we still have Tennessee tags on the rig (LOL)!!!!!

On Sunday the 2nd we continued cleaning some more.  Looking good now.  Lee was going to take a bunch of stuff to storage and stop by the store so I decided to get out and ride with him.  Weird weather again!!  It was 67 when we got up, then the rain and wind arrived.  Now it's only 34 (at 4:00 pm).  Monday the 4th is 24 degrees with a wind chill of 10 - but sunshine.  Is winter ever going to end?!?!?!?

Tuesday the 4th is turning out to be a GREAT day -- Lee was able to manually fix the satellite dish!!!!!!  YEAH!!!!!! What I didn't tell you was the satellite was also damaged during the mess at the other park and we have only had 2 local stations to watch and there wasn't anything on them to watch.  Lee has been able to patch everything up for the time being, he was even able to install the side curtain that helps keep the sun out (you should have seen that usually I help him but this time he had to get into his thinking mode and did it with a short piece of rope.  We'll start packing up a few things this afternoon.  We are going to Debi's tomorrow morning.  I have a checkup with the doctor on Thursday.  I HOPE & PRAY he'll let me start using the leg!!!!  He had said NO weight bearing for 8 weeks and it's only been 7.  She had been informed that I will NOT be going upstairs (that's where the bedrooms are).  I will be sleeping on one of her very comfortable couches, Lee can sleep upstairs.  She even wanted to bring that bed back downstairs......but we'll only be there a couple days. Can you tell I DON'T like stairs?!?!?

Thanks to everyone for the encouragement during this time.  We both appreciate it so much.  It is wonderful to have friends like each of you.

Guess that's about it for now.  Take care.

Until next time........
