Hello to everyone!  Started this blog on March 4th.  I'm still a bit slow - but my caregiver husband has been fantastic. I just want to be able to do more!!  I have been reviewing some knit projects on YouTube and I'm now ready to start a new one.  My medical bills have started arriving and got a summary from our insurance company. WOW - a bit overwhelming and I don't have all of them yet.  I have decided that I now have a bionic leg!!! That leg DOES NOT like the cold at all - so I made a leg sweater.  Lee will attached a picture.  I personally think it turned out really cool ---- and it works!!!

After our coffee on the 5th Lee got the truck loaded and we headed north to Debi's.  Made a stop at one of our favorite places - Cabelas.  Lee got a cool coffee mug and we got Debi a candle.  We both love the White Swan Vanilla candle.  You've gotta try one -- absolutely the BEST candle around.  Todd, Chelsea and Ryder came by that evening and went to dinner with us.  Everyone settled in for the evening -- except me. I had such a restless night.  I could not sleep well at all because of the anticipation of my doctor's appointment on Thursday.  I slept on her couch because I'm paranoid as far as her steps are concerned. That too will pass - right?  Thursday morning March 6th turned out to be a very long morning.  The minutes would not tick off fast enough for my appointment at 1:15.  OMG - wonderful news.  It has healed to about 80% and looks good on the x-rays, a lot of swelling is gone in the leg, my foot and ankle still have quite a bit of swelling, but the doctor says not to worry -- that's normal.  I can start using my leg.  I cannot put entire weight on it.  I'm to support it with the walker.  As I get more comfortable putting weight on it with the walker, I'm to change to 2 crutches.  As the leg improves, I go to one crutch -- and finally a cane.  As to how long this will take ---- I have no idea.  It will depend on how my leg reacts to all this therapy.  I will put forth a lot of effort to work on this leg!!!!  My next check up is in April.  I'm HOPING to walk in that office with one crutch.  The last 2 visits have been in a wheelchair.

Spent the night with Debi and went to dinner with her and the neighbors (Pete and Tammy).  It was a day of celebration!!!  On Friday the 7th we headed back home.  We were meeting our real estate agent to check out another house.  We're really surprised at the condition of some houses on the market --- dumps inside and out.  Needless to say - we said no way on that one.  We'll keep looking.  We made a quick stop at the Academy.  I needed some fingerless gloves.  I've got some issues with my hands because of using a walker for the past 2 months.  We were out and about 2 days this week (10th and 11th).  Got some good therapy walking, but it sure tires me out.  That will get better!!!  Lee took me to Hobby Lobby and I did use the wheelchair there. Needed some more yarn. It was a great day to be out --- 81 degrees.  Well - I shouldn't have gotten excited about the weather.  It got down to 47 on Wednesday night, suppose to get up to 66 - but lots of wind of gust at 40 mph.

Great day for us on Thursday the 13th.  We found out that the house that we really wanted in the beginning, was still on the market.  Our agent checked to see if they wanted to negotiate.  Long story short - offer and counter offer accepted.  Closing will be sometime next month.  Another plus today -- I'm was able to put my right foot flat when walking.  I can't put full weight on it yet, but I've only been able to use the ball of my foot since I got the OK to start using it a week ago.  Because I'm able to balance with that leg, I have been able to help Lee out a bit -- like helping with the laundry today.  I use the wheelchair for that chore - but it helps him a lot.  It was a fun day for us on Friday the 14th.  Headed into town for some propane and check the mail.  Then on to one of my favorite places - Bealls.  I had a gift care and was wanting some capris.  BINGO - especially with all the discounts.  Lee made out also with a couple shirts and a jacket.

Had company on Saturday the 15th.  Debi and Tammy can down.  Our PT had been left at Debi's since my accident and they brought it to us.  This will help us a lot.  It's much easier for me to get in and out with this bum leg of mine -- and it gets much better gas mileage than the truck.  Have no idea when I'll be able to drive again.  Sure don't see that happening any time soon.  As of the 17th it's been a little over 8 weeks since my horrible accident.  My foot is finally cooperating.  The swelling is starting to subside a bit.  Although - I've been told this on again off again swelling could last up to a year.  Made a trip to Dollar General today.  Left the wheelchair at home and only used my walker.  Had no problem at all.  Now that we're seeing an improvement, I hope to graduate to the crutches soon.  Warm day on the 18th -- 81 and sunny.  We went to WalMart in search of some sandals for me that we saw on-line.  Can't wear of my shoes until the swelling is gone.  Dang - they won't work because there's not enough velcor on the straps.  I can only wear my tennis shoes, but you should see how the right one is laced.  Getting good with the wheelchair.....but I did run into Lee (LOL).  I sent him to another department and off I went on my own.  I can go faster than the ones with the motors!!!!!

On Wednesday the 19th we signed all the paperwork for our house.  With most things being automated, we were shocked at the amount of paperwork we have already acquired....now we have more and we're not done.  We met our agent for another walk thru at the house.  We had made a list of things we wanted to check out and Lee wanted to do some measurements in some areas.

On Thursday the 20th we had to run some errands - and OH MY GOSH - the blue bonnets are starting to bloom.  We have had some good showers lately and that's what they like so there should be millions on them in a few days.  Such a beautiful flower.  Just wish they lasted longer.  Lee brought me a beautiful flower that was blooming just outside the RV.  It's pretty - but it's going back outside -- STINKS!!  The laundry room stayed busy all day - so we didn't get ours done until Friday.  If you ever purchase a RV, make sure it comes with a washer and dryer!!!!  That is the only thing we've missed during our time as a full timer.  Chad (our nephew) came down for a visit.  He gave me some good pointers on using my leg/foot. Thanks Chad.  (He's at Texas State studying to become a physical therapist.)

On Saturday the 22nd I went to the grocery store with Lee.  First time I'd been in the store since the  middle of January.  We stopped at Home Depot on the way to pick up some color charts.  We'll need to do some painting when we move so we're trying to get some ideas.  Lee had the buggy and I followed in my wheelchair.  I only had a couple issues.  Both involved people on their cell phone.  They had NO consideration for anyone in the store -- not just me.  They DO NOT pay attention!!!!  HANG UP OR GO TO YOUR CAR!!!  That's my rant for the day!!!  Once we got back home and settled in Lee help me practice using the crutches.  Going to be OK -- I hope.  On Sunday the 23rd I did not use the walker at all. Used just the crutches.  It's 2-1/2 weeks until my next appointment with my surgeon and I'm determined to walk in his office with the crutches.  Would be nice to use just one -- but not sure if my leg will be ready.  Lee headed out early Monday the 24th to meet the folks at the house to do the necessary inspections.  I got in the wheelchair to clean and wax the floor.  Getting good at that also.

Took a trip to Cabelas on the 25th.  Found some sandals!!!!!  We also made a quick stop at Hobby Lobby for another loom I need.  I'm having so much fun with this loom knitting.  I'm starting to get around much better, which I hope is taking some stuff off my wonderful caregiver.  On Friday the 28th Lee helped me work with one crutch today.  I "think" I'm almost there --- I hope!!!!  I anxiously await the day I can walk again with NO SUPPORT!!!  Saturday the 29th we headed out to a furniture store in New Braunfuls. We're looking for a bedroom set.  On to San Antonio to check out a furniture store there.  That was a big mistake. We forgot --- there were 4 different HUGE events going on all weekend.  Plus this is the weekend that thousands of folks head to the hill country to view the millions of blue bonnets.  We have found a place that has worse traffic (on all roads) than Atlanta, Austin or LA!!!  At one intersection - because of the way they keep traffic moving - had 22 traffic lights.  Wish I could have gotten a picture.  I could not believe what I was seeing.  They are definitely the traffic light city of the world.  There were miles of intersections like that.  Nope - we didn't find the furniture store.  We headed back home to search the internet for the exact location.  We'll go back one day during the week -- when all the events are over.  As for the blue bonnets -- absolutely beautiful.  They WILL BE growing in our yard this time next year.  I've already got the necessary info for them off the internet.  Here is a picture of the sunset tonight.  They are fantastic here.

Checked out another furniture store in San Marcos on Sunday the 30th.  We noticed there were hundred of RV's headed north.  I'm sure those were a lot of Winter Texans heading back home.  Some of those folks may want to take the LONG way home.  According to the news, there's still snow up north.  Headed back home to relax and of course watch the race.  On Monday the 31st I conquered some domestic chores I've not been able to do.  Lee headed to the store for homemade soup ingredients.  He made a huge pot.  Had some for dinner with cornbread.  We froze the rest.  Love when he does that.  As I've stated in prior blogs, he does that with chili also.  Seal a meals are wonderful!!

Headed back to San Antonio on April 1st.  Found the furniture stores.......but the traffic.  It was better, but not good.  We have now narrowed it down as to the bedroom furniture we want....and it's NOT in San Antonio.  Now we just need a place to put it.  Hopefully that will happen in about 3 weeks (sooner we hope).

That's about it for now.

Take care.  Until next time................
