Hello everyone!!!  It's been a while for a blog update, but with nearly all of the major updates finished inside and outside the house there's not much to update.  Still got a few items on "the list", but we're in no hurry for those.

This one begins on Thursday July 23rd with an update on both of us ---- we're both feeling much better!!!!  HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY!!!!  We've been doing domestic stuff the last few days.  Lee cannot get hot and sweaty because of his incision.  The yard needed mowing so I got out early to get it done before the heat arrived.  I'm definitely getting better!!  I mowed the entire yard and took only 2 breaks ---- and I did NOT have the breathing problems I've been having.

Our kitchen table sits by 3 big windows looking out to our back yard.  The birds usually entertain us when we're having dinner, but after they left 3 deer appeared.  Once they wondered off the neighborhood fox appeared.  Never a dull moment around here when it comes to critters.  On Tuesday the 28th the doctor's office called.  Lee got a good report!!!  All surrounding areas clear from his basal cell surgery.  Prayers answered for sure!!  On Thursday we delivered lunch meals for the church to some of our shut ins.  That afternoon I made a homemade peach cobbler from our fresh peaches we had frozen.  Yum yum yum!!!

Today is the day (August 1st) Lee gets his stitches out.  No doctor's appointment needed....I did it.  His incision is healing nicely!!  Busy day for us doing domestic chores.  I can do so much more --- but I know not to overdo it.  The Texas heat has arrived so we don't do much at all outside.  Made a Walmart run on Wednesday morning and made homemade ice cream that afternoon.  Saturday the 8th was exciting.  An frantic knock at the front door for us to call 911 -- the hill at the end of our street was on fire (we're only 2 houses away from this area). Can't prove it -- but suspect a cigarette thrown out of a passing vehicle.  Spread quickly, became major but our response teams were great getting it under control.  Our critter for the evening ---- a skunk!!!  Have to close the doggy door because Allie would attack thinking it's a toy.

On Sunday the 9th we met Michael, Debi and Chad at Steiner Ranch for brunch.  This is where Austin works, so we were able to see him for a few.  We were also there to celebrate Michael getting his certification (computer).  Very proud to say the least.  On Wednesday the 12th we got MUCH needed rain.  Have had very little since the monsoon we had in May.  Need more because it is so dry around here.  We have had several more fires in the area.

On Monday the 17th it was Lee's turn to see an Ortho doctor to have his right elbow and neck checked out.  The elbow -- arthritis plus a tendon issue.  May do shots later.  Neck -- degenerative disc issue.  The doctor suggested a different type of pillow and concentrate on holding head up when checking things on his phone and computer.  Naturally some of these issues has a lot to do with age.  Both of us are not growing old gracefully!!!!  Stopped in at Cracker Barrel for lunch on the way home.  Then home for a much needed nap (LOL)!!

Wednesday was a senior moment day for sure!!!  We needed to do some grocery shopping.  Decided to check out the Omaha Steak place we saw in one of our outlets.  Great place!!  We had a "big" coupon so we purchased several items.  Made a quick stop at Sams and also stopped at the grocery store.  Now --- we stopped at 3 places for food.  Come dinner time -- we realized we did not leave anything (frozen) out for dinner!!!  We certainly had a good laugh!!!  Thank goodness we had a salad.  That's as bad as going grocery shopping and then go out for dinner.......which many of us have done.  On Monday the 26th we took Allie for a pedicure.  Took her to PetSmart for her favorite treat.  They had finally put the Spurs cheerleader outfit on sale --- got it!!!

On Saturday the 29th we went to Debi's to take Bill's boat.  She had a buyer for it!  Had a great lunch/visit with her and Michael and Austin  On Thursday September 3rd we delivered meals for the church.  That evening Allie, Lee and I went outside to checkout a bunch of deer ---- and immediately did about face.  There were FOUR skunks in our yard....mom and babies.  OMG!!! Got to get a game plan for these stinky little critters.  I have been sprayed by a baby ---- and believe me they can spray just as bad as mom and dad.

We got to play in the yard for a while on Friday (4th).  Some bushes needed to be trimmed.  Didn't finish up because of the heat.  The heat index had been over 100 for several days.  Will get back to it when it's a bit cooler.  Saturday we went to check out a bake sale our church was having.  Lots of really great items -- all homemade.  Back home for a few domestic chores, watch the race and a lot of football.  On Sunday the 6th Debi and Chad came down for a visit after church.  After dinner Chad headed home and Debi spent the night.  I don't need to tell most of you where Debi and I went on Monday....yep.....Bealls.  Tuesday was a busy day for Lee.  He went to a church men's breakfast and an HOA meeting later that day.

Wednesday was NOT a good day for Lee.  He had an horrible episode of vertigo.  Took his medication and headed back to bed.  Was a bit better that evening.  On Thursday we got a much needed shower.  HOPING for more -- but not like we had in May.  On Friday we got a "huge by large" thunderstorm.  That will help a little bit with the drought and our dead grass.  Dinner evening critter -- the local fox.  We think he came from the neighbor's yard checking out their chickens.  On Tuesday the 22nd we met Austin and Debi in Gruene for a birthday lunch at the Gristmill for Austin.  He will be 20 tomorrow the 23rd.  Where have the years gone?!?!?!?

Got an appointment with an ENT for Lee on Wednesday.  Has sinus and ear infection issues, plus he has Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo.  The doctor wants him to take sinus meds daily and come back in 2 weeks.  The doctor will decide at that time what further treatment is needed. He had 3 episodes in less than a week.  No vertigo episode in the last 5 days - thank goodness.  They really make him sick and it takes a couple days to recuperate.  On Thursday we were able to do some yard work.  Lee spread some moth balls around different areas.  We were told this helps in keeping the skunks away.  Putting stuff up and I'm moving a wind up water hose reel (on wheels).  It hits my leg.  Long story short - ended up in Urgent Care with 6 stitches.  OUCH!!!  Because of the medication I've been on my skin in tissue thin.  It takes very little to cause a boo-boo.  But OMG - this did a number on me....and yes....it happened on the leg I broke.  We can't seem to get a break lately, but we do try to keep a sense of humor.

On Saturday October 3rd we all met at Debi's, caravan to storage, filled up 2 trucks and a Tahoe to move Michael and Austin into their new place.  Really neat condo.  So happy they found a place and can get out of the RV.  Lee was having major ear problems (hurt and swelling) so we had to head home earlier than we wanted.  He has a follow up appointment on Wednesday, but we're going to try and get him in earlier.  By this evening his ear and face were swollen.  We were able to get in with the doctor on Tuesday.  Major infection affecting inner and outer ear, plus the side of his face.  The doctor inserted 3 devices (they looked like minature tampons)  in the ear to keep the canal open.  Got a prescription for drops and antibiotics and wants to see him again Friday.  Drops were made of gold since they were $95.00 for .7 ml.  He has been so sick with this -- now he's on the road to recovery.  With all these issues with us both -- I have a huge rant.  You would not believe how much we have had to pay out of pocket for medical and prescriptions.  We would have better coverage if we still worked.  If you retire --- DON'T GET SICK!!  Back to the doctor on Friday the 9th.  The doctor took out the plugs.  He still had some infection, but it's better.  He is to stay on the drops and antibiotics and come back for a follow up next Friday.

Saturday the 10th was a very sad day for me.  I had to give up my bird feeders --- and clean up the seeds on the ground.  Long story short - the BIG problem with the skunks - they love the bird seeds.  They would come out at night for dinner and turn in for the night under our house or "barn". NOT good especially if they decide to "spray".  It's unreal how that stink get in the house.  So far so good!  Felt better on Monday the 12th. Lee got up and made homemade biscuits for breakfast.  His first try and even though they were small they were great. It was my birthday and Lee took me to Bealls (got me a sweater cape I've been wanting) and out to dinner at one of my favorite places.  Big surprise when we got there!!  Debi was there with her friend Joe.  On Saturday the 17th we headed back to Cedar Park to help Michael and Austin get more stuff out of storage.  We were going to have a birthday lunch (Michael's birthday was on the 16th) but Michael wasn't feeling good.  We just had a quick lunch with Debi and headed back home.

On Tuesday the 20th Lee and I both had a follow up appointment with our dermatologist.  She froze 3 more spots on Lee's face, otherwise he's a-ok and doesn't go back for 6 months.  She has cut back or more of my medication (still feeling good).  If no issues for 2 weeks, one of my medications will be cut back more!!!!!  And - I don't have to go back for 2 months! It must be getting ready for fall as the morning temps are in the 50.s and the afternoon temps are in the 80's.  Allie like us to turn on the electric fireplace for her in the morning.

On Thursday we had dinner with some friends (Michael & Kelly) we had met in Rockport, at the Alpine Haus in New Braunfels.  Fun fun fun!!!!  A lot of "catching up" to do!  Glad the restaurant wasn't busy.....we left after 3 hours!

It's been a long hard road for both of us over the last 2 years.....but we are doing much better.  My blood work is where is should be under the circumstances and the infusions "killed" my antibodies, so there's nothing to attack my organs.  If I continue to not have any issues, the infusions scheduled for December will be cancelled.  Please continue to keep us on your prayer lists.

Take care. Until next time-----

Yes - I'm a bit behind updating our blog.  We had several doctor's appointments so I waited so I could give updates on both of us.

This one starts on Monday June 8th.  I finished up laundry, washed the back porch and worked on the blog.  Lee worked on cleaning the muddy sidewalk, then pressure washed some areas of the house.  Both look great -- and clean  On Tuesday the 9th we worked on cleaning, peeling and freezing some peaches.  Took a break and headed to the store for ingredients to make homemade peach ice cream.  Won't be today because the "little" stores do not carry rock salt.  Guess we'll have to go to the big store tomorrow.  On Wednesday the 10th we took Allie for a pedicure.  Found rock salt on the way home!!!  After we got home we picked more peaches ----- and made homemade peach ice cream.  Turned out GREAT!!!!!
                                  Fresh Peaches off our trees
On Friday the 12th we worked on the yard ---- and guess what ---- we had DUST in some areas.  That was a BIG DEAL since the yard has been wet for 1-1/2 month.  Saturday we worked on putting up more peaches.  Picked more so we could work on those Monday.  Our peach crop was hurt really bad with all the rain we had.  What we were able to salvage were really good.  The deer population around here got the rest.  Six of them showed up tonight.  Allie tries to run them off, but most of them just stare her down and ignore her.  It's really comical!!  You have these huge by large deer and a 7 lb dog.
They don't pay her any attention
We went to the jewelry store on Monday (15th) to pick up a necklace I had repaired.  Road down to Cavendar's to look for a belt for Lee.  Was just going to check prices on a cowgirl hat for me.  They were having a huge sale, plus another 50% off ---- cheap, cheap, cheap.  Lee got a great buy on a belt.  Added some stars to it.  Love it!!!  We came back through Gruene and River Road.  The flood waters are receding, but still very very high.  Tubing is still not allowed.  They're hoping to resume by the end of the month.  Sounds like another tropical storm is coming this way tomorrow.  WOW - we have had enough.  After lunch I decided to make homemade ice cream (finally).  We did not like our first batch I made a couple weeks ago (used a recipe off the internet).  This time I used mom and dad's famous vanilla ice cream recipe and added peaches.  OH MY GOSH -- great --- wonderful!!!!
                                                          My Belt

                                          Linda's Hat
We did a WalMart run on Wednesday (17th).  We were getting supplied for the upcoming weekend.  All the family will be at the Schlitterbahn (water park).  On Thursday (18th) both of us had a doctor appointment.  Mine went very well!!!!  She reduced the mg. of my prednisone for the upcoming month.  Lee had several carcinoma cells frozen, but also had two biopsies.  Hope those come back negative!!!  Once we got back home we started preparing the food we're taking for the water park weekend.  It was requested that we do homemade potato salad and pimento cheese.  We also made some chicken tenders.  It turned out to be a very busy day!!  Didn't have time for a nap.  While I got everything cleaned up and put away, Lee went outside to pick more peaches.  What had been left on the tree had been stolen.  There were even marks on the tree where they had climbed up the tree to get those up high.  Talk about being mad!!!  Yes - they're only peaches.  But - they came onto a fenced yard that is clearly marked with no Trespassing signs ---- and private property. Some people have big cohones.  Next year we will be prepared for them.  Can you say Rock Salt.

What a weekend -- starting on Saturday the 20th.  Loaded the car with food, drinks and swimming attire and headed to Schlitterbahn.  Debi had rented a treehouse for the entire weekend and all the family came down for a fabulous fun filled water park activities.  Late afternoon Lee and I headed home (we only live about 20 minutes away).  Sunday morning we headed back to the water park.  Debi and I treated the fathers to breakfast -- breakfast tacos - their favorite.  Of course the rest of us enjoyed them also!!  Afterwards all got their bathing suits on and headed back to the park.  It was absolutely a fun filled, happy, tiring two days -- but absolutely no complaints from anyone.  DEBI - THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS!!

                                                        One of 2 bedrooms
                                                   The Dragon, what a ride

                                          The Treehaus
The last several days have been spent doing our domestic chores.  We worked outside today (Wednesday 24th) doing yard work.  A new critter appeared in the back yard......a snake.  Saw him again in the front yard.  I was on the lookout for him because I would have chased him down with the lawn mower!!  It was a small one - but that doesn't matter -- a snake is a snake and they are NOT welcomed at the McClure's house!!  I went out with Allie before bedtime --- and another NEW critter appeared at our fence ---- a FOX!!!

Have you heard of a prayer blanket?  My first infusion treatment is Monday the 29th.  On Thursday (25th) our pastor came by for a visit and gave me a beautiful prayer blanket.  This was made by one of the women's organization at the church.  Each stich and knot (bow) represents a prayer by those ladies and the pastor.  Absolutely beautiful!!!!  It will definitely be with me Monday!!!!  On Friday (26th) Lee got the report on his biopsies.  One is OK, but the other one is cancer (Basal Cell Carcinoma).  Surgery was scheduled for July 20th.
                                         Prayer Blanket
Monday the 29th was a big day for me......my first infusion.  I admit I was nervous at first...but they make you feel so comfortable.  Once they got me "hooked up" to the IV, Lee headed home.  After all -- I won't be finished for about 6 hours.  An interesting procedure for sure!!!  I had to have more blood work done on Wednesday the 1st, so we decided to stop by the store so we could avoid the crowds on the weekend.  The Guadalupe is opening up for tubing so it will be a mad house down here.   Most of the tubing outfits are only 7 miles down the road from us.  Traffic will be a nightmare, so we stay home!!  So happy for the outfitters though.  They lost 2 months of revenue, etc. because of the rain/flooding in May and June.

On Friday (3rd) Lee mowed and weedeated the yard while I cleaned and detailed the PT.  That was enough domestic chores for us for the day!!!  Got ready to settle down for the day and noticed we had a water heater problem.  OH NO - we don't need anything else.  Long story short - got a new water installed on July 4th --- HAPPY HOLIDAY!!!  We were lucky!  The bottom was very rusty and had leaked a little bit.  SO GLAD the guy was willing to work not only on Saturday, but the holiday.  Thank you!!  Thank you!!

After church on Sunday the 5th, Michael, Debi and Chad came down to clean up a boat and fix a flat tire on its trailer which was at our house.  Debi has decided to sell it.  This is the boat our brother-in-law (Bill) used when he was a fishing guide on the Guadalupe River.  It was a working afternoon, but I sure enjoyed having them.  On Tuesday we washed and detailed the truck.  We are now having African dust (which occurs yearly), so our vehicles get very dirty!  Had a big run around day on Wednesday (8th).  Started with Cabelas (ammo and a candle), Cracker Barrel (chicken/dumplings), WalMart, Academy, then Bealls.  Now - that trip wore us out (LOL)!!!

As most of you know, I lost a lot of hair over the past few months with this disease I have.  Well - it has started growing back, but in different areas a couple months ago.  What a mess.  It was so uneven, so I made an appointment to have it evened out today (Thursday 9th).  Got a great stylist!!!  She had a mess to clean up, but did a great job.  It's a bit shorter than I like, but it sure looks better.  A picture will not be included because I still have the "moon" face.  Very self conscious.  The doctors could not guarantee my hair would grow back -- but it is.  SO THANKFUL!!!!  Not enough to give up my hats or wig yet.

On Sunday the 12th we headed up to Debi's after church.  It's her birthday.  She celebrates all month, but this day is for her family.  Michael, Chad and Todd cooked a fabulous lunch!!!  Fun day!!  Wednesday the 15th was my second infusion.  Short one today --- only 4 hours.  On Thursday (16th) I went with Lee to the vet so Allie could have a checkup and her nails cut.  That was enough for the day because I was worn out from the procedure from the day before.  Kick back and relax afternoon!

On Friday (17th) I had an appointment with the orthopedic doctor about getting the plates and screws out of my leg.  Long story short -- because of the healing issues I have now,  he plans on taking out the top part of the plate that is protruding under my skin only.  This will not be scheduled until I'm off all medication, which could be another month or so.  Details when we know for sure.  Saturday (18th) we cleaned out the garden.  The tomatoes and peppers are doing great, but the rest is gone.  Took a break to watch the deer --- momma and baby!  Gotta love 'em!!

Yesterday (Monday 20th) was my checkup.  She has backed me off more prednisone.  This procedure has to be done very slowly......but gosh....I wish time would go faster.  Then she did surgery on Lee for the basal cell cancer on his chest.  The area was a little but larger than first thought.  He says that it is tender but nothing to be concerned with.  We will now wait to see if they got all of it.  He's doing fine!  I follow-up with her in a month and he follows-up in 3 months.

Hopefully we are both on the road to better health!!!  Definitely feel the infusion treatments have helped me!!!

With all of the news from Chattanooga about the shootings, Lee and I are posting the following in support of these HEROES.  God Bless Them and their families.
                                                 RIP

Take care --- until next time.

Hello from sunny DRY Canyon Lake, TX!!!  Our blog starts on Thursday May 8th.  It was a major domestic day of chores for both of us.  Didn't finish - but that's ok -- there's always tomorrow.  We FINALLY got a guy to come by and dig out the rest of that ugly bush out of the yard.  We had cut it down to the roots....but WOW - it definitely had a lot of roots.  This guy had no problem digging it out.  We will definitely give him a A+ rating and a high recommendation to the folks in our area.  On Friday Lee and I got outside early to fill the hole back up with dirt.  As we were working we could hear Allie pitching a fit in the back yard.  We thought it was because we were out front without her.  If Lee is out of her sight she is NOT a happy camper.  Well --- no wonder she was not happy......she was locked up in the barn (by mistake!!).  Poor thing does not need any drama in her life.  Lee had been working out there - she got under the work bench and he didn't notice when he closed the doors. Guess she was preoccupied with a bug or something because she didn't bother to come out.  All is well though.
Allie is mad at me
                                 Tired after being locked up.

After church on Sunday May 10th we headed up to Debi's.  Her and Michael fixed a fabulous lunch!!!  Missed seeing Austin though because he had to work.  But we still had a wonderful family day.  On Monday the 11th we got our first tomato out of the garden.  Can't beat home grown veggies!!  A cactus is in bloom also.  Beautiful flower, but doesn't last long enough. Lee spent the afternoon putting the finishing touches on the roadrunner yard art.  On Saturday the 16th we went to Texas State to see our nephew (Chad) graduate.  So proud of him.  Several friends met us all for dinner, then came to our house.  Definitely a full day, but lots of fun.
This was one of 5 different ceremonies.
                                  Over 5000 graduated
Not your typical Roadrunner, He has class
                                                 Tomatoes are doing great
                                              The Catcus are blooming

                                   Flower from my son

On Sunday the 17th we woke up to a MASSIVE rain storm!!!!  Or side, front yard and street were flooded.  By 8:00 am it had rained 3"...... predicted another plus 4".....no end in sight.  As of Monday the 18th we still have excessive run off in a couple areas of our yard.  It's awful!!!!  No end in sight.  They have predicted at least 7 more days of rain.  We may have problems into June.  We ran a couple errands between showers.  Actually had some sunshine for about 1 hour.  It was still a proud day for us.  Michael started his new job at Dell.

Tuesday the 19th was a very busy busy day for us playing in the mud and water.  Several areas are STILL draining from the 7" of rain we got Sunday and Monday.  We see this is going to be a problem going forward.  Trying to get a plan of attack.

I had a doctor's appointment on the Thursday the 21st.  Still improving!!!  She made more changes to the meds which always seems to help.  She also gave me the ok to check out a orthopedic surgeon in our area/network to remove this plate/screws in the leg I broke last year.

I've got to share some advice with ya'll.  If you see something that looks like lint.....don't assume.  I was going to soak in the tub -- makes the leg feel better.  There was something brown in the stopper.  It looked like a big piece of lint.  I just pick up the stopper and tossed "the lint" in the garbage can.  OMG -- it moved!!!  Yelled for Lee -- of course -- to come to my rescue.  It was a scorpion!!!!!!!  YUCK!!!  Obviously they're trying to find some dry areas also.

Rain continues.  After church on Sunday the 24th, we rode up to the dam to check out the lake.  Rising a lot!!  Debi came down that afternoon for the weekend.  My chef put a Boston Butt on the grill for dinner.  WOW - delicious!!  Debi and I were going to make our usual trip to Bealls on the 25th, but changed plans immediately.  A LOT more rain headed our way so she decided to go home.  Best decision for sure because later that afternoon the back road to her house through Wimberley were closed because of flooding.  The other way to her house is I-35which was closed because of flooding in San Marcos.  She made it home safely - thank goodness!!!  We now have some serious flooding issues in our area.

On Tuesday the 26th we did meal deliveries for our church for some of the shut-ins.  We still have excessive water run off from the hills behind us.  Our yard is horrible.  Lee walked the property behind us.  The problem is worse than we thought.  Lee has contacted the County Commissioner to see if they can help with this problem, since most of the problem is the area/roads behind our property.  We are now up to 9 days of constant run off.   Guess what - more rain on Wednesday the 27th.  Canyon Lake it now over its banks and road.  There is debris and down trees are everywhere.  Prediction on the news this morning -- "just small isolated showers".  Well - that shower started at 7:00 am and as of 10:30 am it hasn't stopped.  I guess the weatherman's definition of small isolated shower is different than mine.

Lee and I had our yearly physical on Thursday the 28th.  Lee checked out fairly well.  He has to have some keratosis cells taken off his face and chest.  That will be done next month.  Most of my time was spent going over the events of the last 6 months with my pemphigus/immune disease.  They did blood work of both of us and we were on our way.

A rep from the county came by in reference to our water drainage problem in our yard and how it runs under the house.  Long story short -- nothing can be done on their part.  Now - does that really surprise us.....of course not.  When selling a house ---- be HONEST with the buyer regardless of the issue!!  We have a guy that is going to help us with a solution.  But we need a day with NO rain and we haven't had that --- and we don't see a break until next Tuesday.  Lee will get in his "thinking mode" and fix these problems.  In the meantime - I'm sure most of you have seen the news.  I must say our problems are nothing like some surrounding areas.  Flooding -- more flooding --- loss of property -- and lives.  So so sad!!!

On Friday the 29th water was going to be released from the lake through the spillway, so we headed that way with the camera.  The video Lee took did not do it justice.  It was unbelievable the amount of water rushing through.  Saturday the 30th -- What a day!!!  We worked in the yard until we couldn't trying to divert water in our yard toward the driveway and street.  WHAT A MESS!!!  Water is up to my ankle in most areas.  Once we got different areas to drain in the right direction we called it a day, cleaned up and had lunch.  Couldn't have timed that better, because we got hit with another major storm.  Hopefully we'll see the water drain better after all the work we did.  All this standing water is starting to stink.  It even smells like dead fish.  We will continue to tackle this problem.  But - this is something we should have been told about before we bought the house.  This is NOT something new.
The spillway at 2500 CFS (Cubic Feet Per Second)

After church on Sunday the 31st we road to Camping World.  Needed some tape for an awning at the house.  Stopped at one my favorite places for lunch -- Whataburger!!!  Hadn't been there in 6 months because of my eating issues with this disease.  On Monday June 1st we had SUNSHINE and WARM weather!!!  This has been predicted all week.  The water drainage issue is still a big issue (16 days and counting).  New find -- the drainage is now coming from underground springs.  We tried different things this morning to reroute as much as we could.  I noticed one of the problems was coming from the neighbors yard next door across our fence line.  So -- I got my handy dandy tool and dug a trench along the fence until I got it running down his yard.

Another problem -- Miss Allie likes to play in the water and mud.  She a itty bitty diva.....so this is a big surprise to us.  Can't get on to her....it ain't her fault.  We just keep towels handy....and try to laugh about it. Lee was able to come up with a great idea for one side of the yard.  Every little bit helps!!

"As The Streams Flow"  We are on our 17th day of water run off on Tuesday June 2nd.  The flow is getting slower, but we want it to go away!!!!  We're having another WARM/SUNNY day which should help.  We went to church to pick up the meals we delivery.  On the way home we stopped by ACE in hopes of getting 3 more screens we had ordered 4 weeks ago.  OMG - the screen we took in (for an example) plus the order is missing.  We had some issues the first time we ordered from them, but we were patient --- and the screens looked great the first time.  But -- we will not go back there.  Missing couch, missing screens??????  UMMMM - interesting uh?  Good news of the day though - I'm getting my voice back.  We were really concerned that I had done a lot of damage to my throat.....but maybe not!!!  I don't sound like Minnie Mouse sucking on a helium balloon anymore.  That's what Lee would tell everyone.

On Wednesday June 3rd we were back outside.  Lee finished up re-routing some of the water coming from the neighbors yard.  I got busy with the lawn mower.  We are trying to mow when we can because that is a great help in drying up the yard.  OH HAPPY DAY on June 4th.  After 19 days of water drainage all of it has stopped running.  A lot of the wet areas are drying up.  The hole where the bush was removed needed some more drying out.  Should be a lot better tomorrow, so we headed to Home Depot for dirt and sod for that area.

As of the 5th -- NO water runoff - no puddles!!!!!  It took 20 days to get to this point.  Still got some muddy areas, but so much better.  We were able to fill in that hole and got the sod down.  Looking so much better.  That month of rain did a number on our garden.  We lost all the zucchini.  The radishes and onions are struggling.  The tomatoes and green beans are doing great!!!  The peaches are also doing great.  A lot of them have specks on them.  We are told that is also because of the excessive rain, but it only effects the skin.  HOPE they're right since our tree is loaded -- and that's only on one tree.....we have 5 trees.
Peaches are starting to come in

                                       Trees are full
As for our health update - except for some joint issues Lee is doing pretty good.  As for me -- I am better. BEST NEWS EVER ---- I WILL be getting my infusion treatments!!!!!!!  I should have a time schedule by the end of the week.  Definitely an answer to prayers.

Take care ---- until next time

Friday, May 8, 2015

Hello everyone!  I cannot believe another month has passed us by!!  This month's blog started on Wednesday April 8th.  Rode into "town" to check with ACE on making us some window screens for the house.  There was ONLY one working screen -- the rest were all broken.  Good news -- they can make them so we ordered 4.  Will add more later.  We can't open the windows now anyway because of excessive pollen.  Went to Bulverde also for a few items from Home Depot.  Lee really needed new shelving in the "barn".  The old one was ready to fall apart.  We measured and were able to put 2 shelves in and get everything off the floor.

Thursday the 9th ended up being a big work day.  We need a major cleanout in the barn.  What a mess!!!  Rearranged, threw out a bunch of stuff (Lee is sort of a hoarder when it comes to screws/nails and left over parts) and had a stack of stuff for the senior drop off area (they sort goods and sell them to the public so they can give back to the seniors in need).  We both had to take numerous breaks, but we got it done and it looks great.  Needed to do some grocery shopping on Friday.  After the workday yesterday we took Friday afternoon off and relaxed.  Got a call from one of my doctors.  She wants to take a more aggressive approach to attack my illness, so we headed off to the pharmacy for meds.  Fine with me -- because what's she is doing is helping tremendously!!!!!  And -- they check in with me about every 2 weeks in between appointments.  Not many doctors do that!!!

My favorite part of today (Sat) ---- I was on the phone with Debi most of the afternoon (LOL).  We had a lot of catching up to do because we hadn't talked much at all since she got home from her trip to Hawaii.  As for Lee -- he was a busy beaver!!!  He had some more rearranging and a little more cleanout in the barn.  It was a good day because it was cloudy and cooler.  Sunday the 12th was a great day.  Steady rain when we left for church.  Both side of the road were blankets of blue bonnets!!!  Plus - a beautiful message from our pastor.  God Bless!!  On Tuesday the 14th was a regroup day.  We have been working on other projects before a major project was completed --- the famous iron fence around the front yard.  So with that said -- I will be working on that until it is completed, Lee is not the painter and I love painting.  Lee can work on the other stuff.  Besides -- it's great therapy for me.  I got out there early and so happy to say the front and back along the road is complete!!!!!  The day ended with my chef grilling steaks, fresh corn on the cob and baked potatoes.  Can't get better than that.

Got up early on Wednesday the 15th to meet with the pastor at the church we love.  Great warm meeting!!!!  Our plans are to join Sunday.  Left there are headed to the furniture store to check on our couch that was ordered back in February.  We had been calling -- but same 'ole same 'ole --- "check back in 2 weeks".  Good decision to go by on our part --- our couch can't be found.  We had purchased a matching recliner and love seat which we received a couple days after purchase.  Anxious to see how this situation is resolved.  We DO NOT need to be getting a "run around".  NOT with the run around we're getting from Medicare/Government, etc. etc.

I had a very productive day on Thursday......the fence is 3/4 finished.  Lee was off to the dentist.  He's getting the impression done for that tooth he lost last month.  I'm pushing the issue for him to stay inside.  He is not doing good with the oak pollen.  We got some rain the other day - which helped just a little with all this yellow stuff - but we need more.  He feels so bad.  He needs some relief for sure.  He went to CVS and talked to them about Flo-Nase and has decided to give it a try.  Guess what after 3 days he is a lot better.  He has never been bothered with allergies but I guess with the move to Texas and age we all will be bothered.

Had a fun day on Friday the 17th.  Met Winter Texan Rockport friends (Ted and Nancy Hansen) at the Gristmill for lunch.  They're another couple that are on their way home up north.  Great visit with them and a wonderful lunch!! I wish that we had gotten pictures with me and Ted, he is 6'9".   I started out with domestic chores on Saturday the 28th, while Lee rearranged some items on the living room walls.  Took a break and went to this really neat shop in New Braunfuls.  We wanted to find something to hang a gun on. This was the gun and holster that he used his Christmas and Birthday money on.   Found some really cool cowboy boots.  He spent a couple days refinishing the hangers.  It really looks great.

On Sunday the 19th we joined North Shore United Methodist Church.  What a blessed feeling!!!!  In our meeting with her last week, we found out that she's learning to fly fish.  Lee ties flies, so he got a box of fly fishing lures to give her.  We found her and gave them to her before church started because we didn't want to spoil the occasion.  To our surprise --- when she introduced us to the church -- she just had to show the congregation what Lee had given her.  It was priceless!!  What a great bunch of people, they are so friendly and welcoming.  We were starved when we got home because everyone wanted to talk to us and welcome us.

Headed to the grocery store early on Monday the 20th.  Got all put up then outside to get the yard mowed.  Rain and fertilizer do wonders.  Lee finished up with the new hangers for another gun his black powder rifle.  He also moved Bucky the deer to a better place.  LOOKS GREAT!!!  He also did some patching/painting on some areas in the living room.

Lee ran some errands for us while I got back on the fence.  I had to stop early to work on some updates that I need for a doctor's appointment tomorrow.  My chef fixed another wonderful dinner-- chicken and bean burritos.  The appointment on Wednesday the 22nd was with the Rheumatologist.  They're still trying to push the Rituxan issue.  Stopped at SAM's on the way home.  We haven't been in years, so we took the time to walk the entire building.  We also got a bunch of free stuff when we bought some items.

My Dermatologist appointment was Thursday the 22nd.  She reduced the Prednisone and increased what I call my "turbo" pill.  Had to stop and have some more blood work.  Anxious to get that report.  A great lunch at Smokey Mo's on the way home.  It was a "kick back" afternoon.  The last two days wore me out.  A lot of it was anxiety.....hoping for a better report from both doctors.

Made a WalMart run on Friday in Buda.  Did that one because it's next door to Cabelas.  You know you have to go to Cabelas once a month at least that's what Lee says.  Once we got home we had to make a big decision to get rid of all our Blue Bell ice cream.  OH THAT HURT!!  Not only do we love it --- it helped with numbing my mouth.  With all the negative news, we cannot take a chance of more illness.....we have had our share.

Up at 11:30 last night with news that Lee's brother had been rushed to the hospital...heart issues.  Update on Saturday - being treated for several issues....possible heart value issue.  Prayers please!  (Latest update -- replaced aortic valve - continues to improve!!!)  He has been released to the Rehab Hospital for PT and OT.  He might get to go home this next week.

On Monday the 27th I got an early start on the fence.  One more day should do it --- I HOPE!!!  This was definitely a big project, but so glad we decided to paint it!!!  Some critter had gotten in the garden so Lee worked on getting chicken wire wrapped around it.  Monday the 28th --- THE FENCE IS FINISHED!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Got out early thank goodness while the sun was out.  Yesterday it was 89.....today it's 59.  Love Texas weather.  Heavy clouds came in, lots of wind and temps dropped to 55.  Lee went to church to help deliver meals to the shut-ins.  He delivered 14 meals and said that it was a wonderful experience.  The church will cook and deliver home cooked meals to anyone in need even if they are not a member.  We will both be a part of this program going forward (every other Tuesday).

Woke up on Wednesday the 29th to 44 degrees.....OUCH!  By 9:30 am it had warmed up 16 degrees so we headed outside to move/weed eat the yard.  Got up to 73 --- perfect.  Friday May 1st was NOT a good day for me.  I was denied help with a grant from the foundation for my treatments.  Long story short -- you need to be homeless to qualify.  They are going to try one more option....but at this stage of the "game" they play with sick seniors , I don't expect to be approved there either.  There are pills to treat this horrible disease.  Is it the best -- no -- but I'm ok with it.  The "worthless" powers that be, need to take a long/serious/hard look at the way seniors are being treated - sick or well.  This entire situation and time involved to hear anything is total unacceptable.  I even submitted a quick appeal over 4 weeks ago on blood work Medicare won't pay for.  Have I heard anything -- of course not.  WOW - I knew senior citizens on social security were in trouble.  But this puts a new meaning to it.  I will now go forward with the positive and try my best to get rid of the bitterness......because I do feel better.

Time out on Saturday the 2nd from everything!!!!!  Lee went to church for the men's breakfast meeting.  After he got home we headed up to Debi's for the afternoon.  It was great to see everyone!!!!

Remember the missing couch......it got delivered today (Monday the 4th)!!   Believe me -- they did not want to see us again (lol).  Tuesday the 5th was our day to deliver some meals to a few shut-ins.  We meet at the church around 11:30 after several ladies have cooked lunch with all the trimmings.  What a great feeling - and the folks receiving the meals are so appreciative.

Guess this about does it for now.  Lee is doing much better ---- and so am I.  And -- the garden is doing GREAT!!  Should have some veggies real soon.

Take care -- until next time

Good afternoon from beautiful Canyon Lake, Texas!!!  The month of March (2nd) began with me having to go for an MRI.  This was all a part of trying to find out the cause behind this horrible disease I have.  Once we got back home we had a "house call" from a very nice mechanic that replaced the brakes on the PT.  Love that kind of service.  He came back 2 days later and replaced a power steering line on the truck.  The PT has been running rough and he came back and tuned her up.  We have never used a mobile mechanic before but we will use him again if needed, not only did he fix the problems but he was very reasonable about cost.
                                                Sunrise in Canyon Lake
                                          Sunset
On Wednesday the 4th I met Debi in Gruene/Gristmill.  Afterwards we headed for Bealls (of course). Thursday was NOT a good day , the weather was yucky......COLD/ICE/COLD/ICE.  Good day to clean out and reorganize a closet.  Lee was not doing good at all.  He was having a major tooth problem.  Has a dentist appointment tomorrow,  The tooth was infected -- so antibiotics for now.  On Saturday the 7th my energy level was up so after some domestic chores I went outside to enjoy some warm sunny weather.  I started chopping down an ugly bush (sitting on a stool).  Tried to keep Lee down for the day because of a horrible toothache.  On Tuesday the 10th I worked in the yard cleaning up that bush I cut.  Lee felt a little better so he started digging away at the roots.  The excessive rain we have had softened the dirt around it.....but lots and lots of roots.  Another project that will be conquered.

The trip to the dentist on the 11th was NOT a good one!!!  When the dentist started pulling the tooth, the tooth and bone broke.  He had to cut the gum, drill out the rest of the tooth and put in stitches.  OUCH!!!  Longer recovery for sure.  On Thursday the 12th I started painting on the iron fence some more.  Kept Lee inside on meds and quiet!!!!  Friday the 13th he felt like taking a ride to Walmart.......and I was the driver.  You definitely learn to get around if you're doing the driving.  Haven't driven much at all over the past 1-1/2 yrs because of the broken leg.  At least that is getting much better.....leg and driving!!  My surgeon would like to take the two plates and screws out of my leg, but that's been put on hold for obvious reasons. Will update on that issue when I can.

On the 14th I painted on the fence some more while Lee worked under the master bathroom sink. That's the one that has water damage from a busted line.  Since we had to let it dry out, we decided to tackle an ugly area around out fence line.  Got really tired so we called it a day.  Not finished - but it sure does look better.  Wouldn't even fool with it, but it's right on our property line.  On Sunday the 15th we went to Debi's for the day.  LOVE going to her house and have Michael and Austin there!!!
Took the truck full of items -- some go back in the RV and a couple items for Michael and Austin when they get an apartment.  We got to visit with Todd, Chelsea, Ryder and Chad also.  Debi treated us to a fantastic lunch.  Late afternoon we headed home.  We stopped at Home Depot in Dripping Springs to pick up a couple raised garden beds and dirt.  Tomorrow's project for sure.  Monday the 16th was a very busy day.  We put the garden boxes together.  Now it's ready for the veggies.

Raised Beds and one of the peach trees
                               Allie is helping (Yeah Right)
On Tuesday it was off to the beauty shop.  I had a complimentary trim on my wig.  She did so good!!!!  She put more shape to it.  LOVE IT!!!  On the way home we stopped at Home Depot to get some plants for our garden.  Cucumbers, radishes, green beans, green onions, bell peppers, zucchini, tomatoes, a "mystery" plant. Finally go to planted a lemon tree!!  Wednesday morning the 18th we headed to the dentist first thing to get his stitches removed,  Once home we had fun playing in the dirt planting all the veggies.  On Thursday we headed to Wimberley.  Lee had a 6 month follow-up appointment with the eye doctor that did his cataract surgery.  All is fine and dandy!!  The weekend was very very busy with domestic chores.  Lee made a cover for the air conditioner and I attempted to do a major clean inside and out on the PT.  I moved in slow motion.....but I got 'er done.  Monday the 23rd we did a major detail inside and out on the truck.  Got that all cleaned up and started mowing the yard.  Everything is looking so neat, green and clean.

                                                       My new Look

                            Veggies are planted and growing

With the warm weather you would not believe that the peach trees have bloomed and that we now have small peaches growing all over the 5 trees, in the garden we have one tomatoe, and small lemons on the lemon tree.  Mom showed up on Monday the 23rd (beautiful butterfly).  She came to check on us and let us know we're doing good and she was proud of us.  Sure do miss her.  Tuesday was NOT a good day at all for me.  Blisters returned in my mouth and tongue.  A major setback as far as I'm concerned since I'm starting my 5th month.  So -- I suffer while the government takes their time studying my case.  Folks - there is a serious problem with this issue.  Needless to say my emotions have not been good --- and it's taking its toll on me physically. As I go forward --- I'm REALLY trying to think of the positive and NOT the negative.  With the help of my doctor ...... and my husband....I think I'm making some progress.  I just don't have a day when I feel good all day.  I'm 'tuff.....right??? Just so glad it's warm so we can work outside.  That helps me a lot.  Just got to stay busy when my energy level is up.  It helps Lee A LOT also!!!!  It puts me  in a better mood.....because I've been so bitter.

                                              Peaches
                                        More Peaches
Got some great news on the 15th when we were at the grocery store.  Out kitchen table, chairs and a bed headboard for the other bedroom we had ordered back in February were being delivered.  As soon as we got home we moved the the kitchen around, I cleaned the floor and Lee installed a ceiling fan before they got there. WOW --- beautiful beautiful beautiful!!!!  On another happy note ---- the blue bonnets are starting to pop out everywhere!!!!  On Friday we installed the headboard, I cleaned/washed the front porch while Lee installed a ceiling fan in the living room.
                                          Antler Lamp
New Table (Star in the Middle)
                                         Star Headboard
Headed out early on Saturday the 28th to the AT&T store before they get busy.  Needed to settle some issues with them.  WE WON!!  Took Allie with us and stopped by the pet store to check out some toys that she can't tear up so easy.  She has torn up just about all toys removing the squeakers?!?!?  Also had her nails cut.  Back home and changed into work clothes.  Finished washing the front porch, then out back to start cleaning up leaves.  What a mess!!!  Funny thing -- none of these belong to trees in our yard.  They come from the neighbors yard.  Lee installed 2 more ceiling fans, he has replaced all of them in the house.  We are lucky that he can do these things and we don't have to hire someone.  Oh yeah he can cook also.    On Tuesday the 31st we made a run into town for more medication for me.  So happy to say that what they have me on now has helped greatly.  Even with the setback last week -- it's better.

We did our WalMart run on Wednesday the 1st.  We also drove into San Marcos to Bed, Bath & Beyond, then over to the Academy.  Got Allie a little plastic pool.  She loves it -- no training required at all.  Sense of humor event ---- some of my facial wrinkles have disappeared.  I was told one of my meds could cause what's called "moon face" --- well guess what ---- I've got it.  I just WISH it would make me look younger (LOL).

Had an absolutely wonderful day on Friday April the 3rd.  Several of our dear friends we camped with over the winters in Rockport are starting to head back home --- up north -- where it's COLD. They decided to stop in Bandera for a couple weeks.  That's only about 60 miles from us, so we decided to go visit since I was having a good day.  What a great dose of "medicine".  We had a wonderful time visiting with them and they invited us to have a delicious lunch with them.  Such great folks.  Saturday the 4th was another good day.  Wimberley has their market days the first Saturday of each month.  We have been wanting to check it out --- so off we go.  My gosh -- what a fantastic event.  Sponsored by the Lion's Club with 416 vendors.  Lots and lots of walking -- but that was good for both of us.
                          Lunch with Friends from Rockport
They are from all parts of the country
                                         Banjo and Linda
Sunday April 5th was a glorious day!!!  Finally had the energy to attend church.  We both had missed it so much.  The service was very uplifting.  Physically I definitely did too much over the last 3 days -- but emotionally it was WONDERFUL.  I definitely feel we have found our church home.

So beautiful and warm on Tuesday the 7th.  The morning was cloudy so we decided to get the yard mowed and weeded.  Sure do like the smaller yard,  With our teamwork, it doesn't take long at all.

I ask that everyone please keep Lee and I on your prayer list.  So many want updates - which I cannot give at this time.  Although -- the "paperwork" didn't start until April 1st.  Please pray that I'm approved and SOON!!

We love your folks and we don't feel that "thank you" is enough for all the support and encouragement you have given us both.  WOW -- such a warm feeling.

Take care.  Until next time.......
