Maiden Voyage

As most of you know Linda and I bought a Kayak to take with us so that I can use it to fish.  We have been outfitting it, well I have been outfitting it and Linda just stands by and shakes her head at me.  We even went and bought her some fishing equipment as she is wanting to learn.  Before she took a chair and her Kindle to read.  Well we got to take it out Sunday here, we had a great day, Sunshine and 80 degree weather.  Took it to HWY 361 which leads to Port Aransas from Aransas Pass and has water on both sides.  Launched it and got supplies in it then paddled across that channel and fished for a while, Main thing was to familarize myself with the Kayak as I am a newbie to it.  What a great day, didn't catch any fish but did have a strike.  I have always fished fresh water and trout fishing.  Saltwater is really different.  Since we will come back to Rockport in Oct. I am getting my saltwater lures and stuff together.  I can't wait until then.  I hope to use the Kayak this summer in fresh water and go for Bass.  We also had a Great White Egret take up residence next to the RV, I think he/she like the Flamingos but doesn't know they are fake.  Well anyway here is some pics for you.  Until next time have a great day .

Austin Trip

We arrived in Austin on Thursday and after eating lunch at Freebirds (if you have never tried it you need to)  I had a Monster Burrito with beef.  Had a Corona to chase it.  Went back to Debi's and just caught up with everyone.  Todd picked me up on Friday morning and we went to The Container Store to pick up a couple milk crates to fix up for the Kayak, we then picked up Chad and went to Austin Kayak to look Arond, we then headed to Cabelas for the have to trip each time we go there.  After picking up a few supplies we went back to Austin where we ate at Hut's, I had a Hut burger and onion rings, they were some of the best I have ever had.  We dropped Chad off and Todd and I went to the new super Academy store.  We then went back to the house where we started getting ready to have a fish fry. (These are the fish that Chad and I caught)  Tammy, Lauren, Chad, Todd, Chelsea and Ryder came over and we had a great meal and fellowship.  Got up on Saturday and cut down a tree in Debi's yard.  We got ready to go eat for Tammy's birthday (she lives across the street and is like another sister), we went to Pluckers which is a wing restaurant it was good also.returned back to the house and went to bed.  Got up on Sunday and returned to Rockport.  On the way home we stopped at a truck stop called Bucees, I got a pound of jerky and about fainted when they told me how much it cost $30.00.  Linda said that we will eat every bite.  Got up early on Monday and took the truck to the store so that they could install the front hitch for the kayak carrier.  We did some shopping this week for Linda, she wants to learn how to fish so we got her some equipment, Rod and Reel, some lures, a tackle box, and today we got her a life vest.  I hope to put the Kayak in the water this Sunday as I have installed everything that I need for it.  My crate system is finished.  I will post pics when I can.  Take care and we will see you soon.

Latest News

Wow I didn't realize that I have waited this long to post.  Well Let's see, on Jan. 22 Linda and I celebrated our 30th anniversary.  We basically just went out to eat and stayed around the camper.  We went out with our friends from the Heartland group on Monday and ate at Beaches Resturant for dinner, during the meal they started singing Happy Birthday for me as on Tuesday I would turn 67, quite a surprise.  Got up on Tuesday and we met Karen and Dan at the Bakery Cafe for Breakfast.  Drove over to Wally World and just shopped.  The rest of the week was quiet and we played card bingo and toured Fulton.  On friday we met some friends in Corpus Christi and had mexican at KIKOS, oh yeah
We went to Rockport and got the star treatment on our feet, I am beginning to look forward to this ritual.  We went to the flea Market on Saturday and got Linda a yard chair.  Then searched for some more flamingos which we found some.  It seems as if our yard art is growing.
On Monday we met again with our group and had a meal at Trout Street.  Food was great but the cheesecake was outstanding.

We went to the Padre Island National Seashore and is it ever great.  Went down to the beach and walked, there was a lot of sea fog when we got there but it disappeared after a while.  The sea fog is weird as it stays all day.  After we left there we went to Wind and Wave Watersports to look at Kayaks as they were recommended to us.  After looking at the Kayaks and equipment we left and took the ferry back across the channel to Aransas Pass and home.  I got up on thursday and went to talk about a man installing a car top carrier on the truck and ended up ordering one.  I then called the Kayak store and talked to them again and on Friday we went back to Corpus and bought the Kayak.  They had to rig it for me so it would not be ready until Tueaday.  Wow what a weekend waiting.  We shopped and I bought some books about fishing from a Kayak and also just about Kayaks.  We went back to Corpus on Tuesday and stopped at Academy to pick up some things for the Kayak and us.  We then picked up the Kayak and brought it home.  I am waiting on the front hitch but was able to carry it home using the back hitch.  I will post pics when we get it all hooked up but here are a few pics of the Kayak.  Finally we picked up a new flamingo, named him Harold (don't ask why because I don't know)  she also got some flamingo coozies, notice hers Heinken and mine Miller Lite,  Well that brings us up to date, we are going to Austin in the morning for the weekend to spend with Debi and the boys, come back here on Sunday and then we will head back to Tennessee on the 5th of March.  Look out Krystal Hamburgers we will see you soon.
